Personally, I haven't had nearly the problem with this in the arena compared with randomly-assigned teammates acting like asses and rushing the opposing team, getting us all killed.
MOST of the time, in MOST fights in the lower arenas, my teams tend to lose due to poor coordination and little to no cooperative play. When you get a team that works, you tend to keep winning. It may not be ENTIRELY about gameplay, but I certainly think gameplay is more important than equipment. |

This is how it works . PKs in general are people who enjoy dominating and dont care about ethics or morals because guess what its a GAME any effort put into ethics and morals in a GAME is just a sign of being a LOSER The only people who complain about PKs are the people who care too much about the GAME aka LOSERS. In ending I say those who complain about PKs probly dont get laid or have issues involving the logical part of their brains that should tell them games are meant to be played the way YOU enjoy them withought imposing your values on others aka trying to make them as big a LOSER as thou.
Edit: I played PK servers on everquest for 6 years . One key thing i learned is that the more losers complain about being dominated the more fun it is for PKs to dominate them .. The less you care the less youll get hunted down and dominated. A good PK doesnt discriminate between targets ... we kill first and ask questions later unless we know X person will cry more then Y person . PKing is the biggest waste of time in RPG history. What is the point of sitting there killing people that you would have no trouble killing? Instead of trolling forums like you are doing right now, and instead of ruining casual gamers' playing experiences, why don't you find something constructive to do with your life? It sounds like you're the one the needs a girlfriend from over here. |

I think this is an interesting thread. My concern isn't so much with PKing, though, but the balance of the game.
There's a real danger of undermining one of the basic tenets of Guild Wars: It's not the hours you play, but the skill of the player. If I can get good or great equipment to lower level characters in my guild or my own characters lower level characters, this undermines this premise and throws off the balance of PvP in lower level arena's. Here's a real life example. I have a warrior who's level 8. I've equiped him with stuff my ranger found on the way to level 20. Granted some of the stuff the W isn't able to equip, yet, but some of the stuff is no problem. Now, he has a pretty good vampiric hammer that does a fair amount of damage, and he has a real nice shield. Plus, there are runes he's using a upgrades. My R found most of this stuff at levels 13-17. And that's the rub, in my opinion. (Yes, I'm part of the problem. Don't beat me up too much for it.) In my experience, purple items are pretty rare (the hammer is purple) and so are runes. You're pretty d*mn lucky to get much, if any, of this stuff at level 8. It throws off the balance of the game when someone who has played for hundreds of hours and has lots of cool stuff to pump up his lower level chars. It violates that basic tenet about skill not hours. This is primarily true in PvP. Skill will not always win out in the arenas. Better armor and weapons and runes can make up for a multitude of sins. I think most experienced players probably won't have too much trouble with this and just take it on the chin, but, as someone mentioned earlier, there's a real chance of chasing off noobs, and without fresh blood there's a chance the game might start dying in a year. Not sure what the answer is, but I think it's something ArenaNet needs to address. |

I'm curious about something. After reading that loving post from Gankmeister BashBashem, I have to wonder why exactly that sort fo people buy new games at all. Any game I buy I plan on enjoying. So caring about how the game plays and how much enjoyment I and others get out of it IS a concern.
How could anyone play on a game for years and do nothing but grief, pk, and all that, actually enjoy being nothing more than a school yard bully picking on the little kids. Let's the "kids" grow up and fight amongst themselves while they can without the aholes making the game horrid for them and when they are strong enough to play with the big boys.. THEN try walking all over them. That is the whole point of the lower level arenas. It is SUPPOSED to allow newer playersget a feel for PvP,and experienced players with new characters get a feel for how that new build works in PvP. I don't go into PvP with a ne character and expect to play it well or understand the way it will fit inside a team. I can tell if the team I get stuck with is disorganised or inexperieced though and don't take getting my ass handed to me to heart. New players don't have that option and should be given the opportunity to learn to play without having to face max damage weapons and max AL armor. I know that as soon a my characters come into post searing they have everything as close to max as they can get within their level. I don't drag characters through because I want my ability to play them to grow along with the character. My guys might dish out a LITTLE more damage than the average at level 7 or 8, but are just as easy to hit as the next player. Runes aren't a big issue.. If someone wants to pile on a Major or Superior at a low level, they die that much easier if they don't have the armor to go with it. So I guess the biggest issue for practical purposes would be armore, which is the singular item unavailable at a high level to most people at earlier points in the game. Maybe they ought to have a truly Noob'ish arena that doesn't allow anyone with a high level PvE character on their account in at AC.. First timers or no character on account past lvl10 to play. |

I agree that it COULD be an issue in the future. Games have a nasty habit of starting out ok, and then adding in super crazy items and abilities that totally trash the delicate balance that made the game good. Look at Neverwinter Nights, and the "Hordes of the Underdark" expansion. We had kids muling so much to twink out "Devestating Critical" users, it was just ridiculous. A player died instantly every 1 out of 3 hits -- no matter the ACTUAL damage done. Right now, I've noticed that a lot of these kiddies that couldn't spell a word completly (it don't matter if its spelled right, I like to see a "You" versus a "u" every once and awhile ) don't last that long anyhow. Their ego and over-confidence gets the best of them, and they run into situations well above their skill, thinking the equipment will make up for they're lack of skill. The fact that the game seems pretty darn balanced seems to be curbing any twinks, in MY experiences of this game. But it could be a game killing problem if the wrong items and skills are introduced in the future. Quote:

you say that the 1-10 and the 1-15 areas are used by people with good items to kill lower levels. but seriously if a lvl 5 goes into the 1-15 arena and actualy expects to win at all then thye are just wrong. also its not like you are going to have a lvl 5 person with a high damage butterfly sword because most weapons require skills in that weapon of like 9+
